Hey guys! Guess where I’m blogging from!!
…NEW YORK CITY!!! For those who don’t know, I don’t live in New York, just an FYI π π
It is currently December 20nd. We arrived here this morning at 3:00AM. The car ride was 5 hours long, We were trying to leave at 6:00PM. My family procrastinates a lot. Then, when we finally got in the car, there were about a billion things we forgot inside the house, so it was unbuckling, opening doors, unlocking house, frantically zooming back and forth, and checking a million times if we locked the door, and buckling back into the car. <- That about ten times.
Well, anyway, the car ride was around my bedtime, so I slept a lot, but I also read. I couldn’t read for very long because the Kindle was running out of battery (and I was getting sleepy), so I slept the rest of the way to Pennsylvania, where we made a stop to pick up my sister.
As we were driving, I tried to stay awake (it was around midnight then) and took out my phone and looked at some pictures. Then, I randomly found lots of pictures from when I was like three years old, and I had fun scrolling through some of them. Then, yet again, I crashed into sleep.
I woke up and voila! we were in NYC, at the door of our hotel. We loaded our stuff on the luggage cart, checked in, got our keys, and headed upstairs to the floor we stayed on. We came into our room and went to sleep.
I’m writing this beginning part in the morning at 10:00AM. I woke up at around 9:30AM, and everyone else is still zonked out. Especially my parents, who drove at 2:00 in the morning.
Anyway. that’s just the intro. Be prepared for a long post. That’s the intro to….
The Adventures of My Two Feet – New York City Pt. 1!
Yup! In case you’re new to my little internet corner, you can check out the intro to this series here. I’m staying in NYC till Saturday, so I’ll have a Pt. 1 (for today) and a Pt. 2 (tomorrow, Thursday). I’m so excited to start the day and now, I’m saving this post and am ready to write it all tonight, when the day is done!
Hola! I’m actually finishing this post on the 21st, and publishing this on the 22nd.
Yesterday, we woke up pretty late and were still sleepy. Anyway, we left the hotel room at around 4:00. It was fun to relax in the hotel, though. We usually never do and zip out of there as fast as possible to sightsee, so this was nice.
Well, without any further ado, New York City!
ChapterΒ 1- Walking, walking, and more walking…
Tall buildings…blue sky…lots of people…truly NYC…
More tall buildings…busy road…
Radio City!!! Rockettes Christmas Spectacular!
The city buildings are so amazing! The sky has a pinkish hue…it’s almost evening…
hehe…I love this! So cute!! Poor snowman, I still have no idea why he’s so sad looking…
Chapter 2 – Christmas Tree!
Behind Radio City was a giant Christmas Tree!! It was so pretty with all the lights π
The Christmas Tree peeking in again, and in the distance (I couldn’t capture it too well on camera because of the huuuuuge crowd) is a light castle – lack of better words – that changed colors, it was pretty cool π
Chapter 3 – World Trade Center Observatory
This was the highlight of the day!! So beautiful and amazing!
The World Trade Center is the tallest building on the Western Hemisphere! Standing outside the entrance, you couldn’t see the top!
The hallway leading to the observatory was cool in itself!
I was looking down on New York, looking down on the Empire State Building (which I failed to capture on camera, sorry!)…my stomach did cartwheels as I saw how high up I was! (102nd story! wow!)
I see the streets of NYC, the cars like bugs…
I tried my best to catch it on camera, but it turned out very grainy…In case you can’t tell, it’s the Statue of Liberty! The glowing thing in a sea of black? See it? It felt weird to see it from above, but very amazing!!
Chapter 4 – The Oculus
I didn’t take this picture π I found it online on Google Images because I didn’t get an opportunity to take any, but yep! I was in there! Pretty cool building! Reminds me of a dinosaur!
Just the hallway π It’s very white and elegant π
The garlands on the hallway railing were really pretty! They had silver balls on them, and went nicely with the white theme.
The Oculus Holiday Market ~ We didn’t shop there, but it was really fun to see what they had!
That was the end of the first day! A busy day filled with beautiful sightseeing! I can’t wait for the rest of the vacation, and Christmas, and New Years…There’s a lot of things to be excited for this upcoming winter!
What are you guys up to this winter?
If you’ve been, what are some must-go places for you in New York City?
To more adventures!

Oh, wow! It looks like you and your family had a wonderful first day in NYC!!! I visited NYC with my dad a few months ago, and I am very thankful that he took me along with him on his short business trip. IT IS SO INCREDIBLE!
~Some things that you might enjoy:
-You could see Misty Copeland perform The Nutcracker at ABT
-You could visit China Town, Little Italy, etc. I LOVED experiencing this. π It is like you enter a whole new country just by walking down the road!
-Be sure to visit Times Square at night to see all of the lit up buildings/posters… It was unbelievable.
Sorry for such a long comment, but I am just so excited for you!!! I hope that you have a great time, and I can’t wait to read more about your trip. ENJOY THE ROCKETTES! π

This looks like such a fun trip, Lydia!!! I loved getting to see all these pictures π I enjoyed reading all the captions you wrote for them, especially for the one you took of the Statue of Liberty from up high, haha – I couldn’t tell what it was until I read the description! I’ve never been to NYC, so I don’t have any recommendations. Also, that huge Christmas tree is so beautiful! x
